CAMERA Introducing Emilia Tor

CAMERA are thrilled to be welcoming 2 new PhD researchers to our team this autumn. Emilia Tor is joining us to work with CAMERA Researcher Dr Crescent Jicol, and CAMERA Co-Director Eamonn O’Neill in the Department of Computer Science.

We asked Emilia to tell us a little about herself and her PhD project.

“I am a full-time PhD student with an interest in the experience of emotions in virtual environments. I have experience with both Psychology and Human Computer Interaction research into user presence in Virtual Reality (VR). Using my background in consolidating the impact of emotion, agency, and individual differences on user presence in VR, I seek to develop a greater understanding of emotion regulation processes in virtual environments.

In my upcoming project, I aim to use a VR application that evokes emotional experiences, as well as presence, with a goal to develop training that introduces the user to mindful emotion regulation tactics in a safe and controlled environment.”

We can’t wait to see the results of this project!
