This year’s International Society of Biomechanics in Sport conference took place from 12th to 16th July in Milwaukee, USA. CAMERA Co-Investigator Steffi Colyer and CAMERA PhD researcher Julie Emmerson headed west to present their research at this prestigious annual conference.
Steffi, who works in collaboration with UK Sport and British Skeleton presented her paper “Estimation of Ground Reaction Forces From Markerless Kinematics and Comparison Against Measured Force Plate Data”.
Sticking with Markerless Motion Capture PhD student Julie presented her research “Comparison of Markerless and Marker-based Motion Capture for estimating External Mechanical Work in Tennis: A Pilot Study”.
This year’s conference was hosted at Marquette University, which is located right in downtown Milwaukee. ISBS is an international society with 3 primary purposes:
- To provide a forum for the exchange of ideas for sports biomechanics researchers, coaches and teachers.
- To bridge the gap between researchers and practitioners.
- To gather and disseminate information and materials on biomechanics in sports.
The ISBS Conference takes place each year to bring together researchers from all over the world.
