CAMERA's Studio Engineer, Dr Pooya Soltani, completed a PhD in sports sciences at the University of Porto, Portugal, followed by a post-doctoral research at Aix-Marseille University, France. With a holistic approach to physiology, biomechanics, and psychology, Pooya's research centres on extended reality technologies and gamification to improve sports performance. For his PhD, Pooya explored the use of sports exergames for teaching, training, and inspiring real sports and physical activity. Back in July we welcomed the film crew from GW4 to the CAMERA studio at University of Bath to interview Studio Engineer Pooya Soltani about his role as a technician and researcher.
University of Bath and the universities of the GW4 group have all signed up to the Technician Commitment . The Technician Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.
GW4 have launched their GW4WARD technician video showcase series in recognition of their valuable and significant contributions. This new video series supports the aims of GW4WARD – to enhance the visibility and development of GW4 technical staff – by showcasing the experience of four different technicians from the universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter. The videos highlight the breadth of different technical roles and their pivotal position in our teaching and research activities.
