CAMERA CAMERA Welcomes New Research Assistant

A warm welcome to Rosie Barnett who has joined CAMERA as a Research Assistant within the Department of Computer Science.

We caught up with her to find out a little more about her.

‘For the past 18 months I have been working as a research assistant for a London/Madrid-based contract research organisation.

I have a particular interest in inflammatory auto-immune conditions and multidisciplinary approaches to treatment – particularly those with an emphasis on self-management and strategies focusing on ways to complement/reduce reliance on therapeutic drugs.

I received my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from King’s College London where I won the Biomedical science prize for best theoretical research project for my dissertation.

I will be helping develop a database of Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) patients at the RNHRD, in order to assess the long-term impact of rehabilitative interventions on the natural history of disease. This will involve an initial retrospective analysis assessing the role of residential rehabilitation courses on the natural history of AS.

I am very much looking forward to embracing the cross-disciplinary and developmental nature of this role – involving not only data entry, but also clinical understanding and hopefully further expanding communications between CAMERA and the RNHRD regarding the field of AS. I am excited for the opportunity to work within several different teams in such an exciting, developing field of research and I am keen to gain as much experience as possible; with the aim of gaining the skills to potentially progress to a PhD.’
