How you can be anyone in VR – TEDx Talk
News
In her talk, Anca Salagean discusses the research exploring the endless possibilities of ‘becoming another’ and ‘becoming one’s digital self’ in VR, whilst also underlining some effects of this phenomenon and ethical considerations of this. Anca Salagean is a PhD student; her main research interests are at the intersection between psychology and computer science.
She is part of the CREATE lab and the CAMERA studio at the University of Bath, where she investigates the factors that modulate the sense of embodiment in relation to virtual avatars and the behavioural, attitudinal and cognitive effects of this phenomenon. Ethical considerations around embodiment and immersive technologies are another focus of her work.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organised by a local community.
