CAMERA Upcoming ‘Games as Heritage’ Seminar

If you are interested in Artificial Intelligence (AI), games, heritage, or archaeology, come to the seminar on Games as Heritage. Topics of discussion will be the analysis of ancient games using modern AI techniques, and the main challenges with the preservation of videogames.

When: Wed 16 October, 13:15 to 15:00

Where: Room 6E 2.2 at the University of Bath

Speakers:

  • Cameron Browne, Associate Professor within the Games and Artificial Intelligence (AI) group of Maastricht University. He is currently Principal Investigator of the Digital Ludeme Project, a five-year ERC-funded research project that applies AI techniques to the analysis of ancient games.  The project aims to better understand how games evolved and to establish a new research field of Digital Archaeoludology.
  • James Newman, Professor of Digital Media in the School of Creative Industries at Bath Spa University. He has collaborated with teams from Nottingham Trent University and the National Media Museum on the National Videogame Archive project. The archive is the UKs official collection of videogames. The seminar is organised by the Bath Cultural Heritage Network and kindly sponsored by the Department of Computer Science, University of Bath.
